Told you so...

I told you I would suck at this blog thing.  More to come soon...looks like we might finally be getting close to buying a home in the La Crosse area!

End of week 2

Holy smokes...these have been the fastest 2 weeks of my life.  I continue to get my ass handed to me each and every day at work.  I absolutely love the complexity, diversity, and magnitude of the challenges that I face.  The team that I work with continues to be amazingly patient and supportive, and I'm confident that will continue until I'm fully acclimated to all I'm supposed to be doing.  I never in a million years would have guessed that I would be responsible for so much stuff and so many people.  It's a very humbling feeling.

We still have had no action on selling our home in Austin, which is incredibly frustrating.  I'm home 4 nights a week, but that is certainly not ideal.  Poor Leslie gets the brunt (if not all) the responsibility of running the house and taking care of 3 kids.  You know...I think I have it far easier than her!  Hopefully this arrangement will be short lived and we can all be in La Crosse soon!

Send positive engergies for a quick home sale!

I totally knew I would suck at this game of keeping up with a blog...

Week 2 has started!  I got through week one without too much damage, despite some work challenges that I'm told only happen every 2 or 3 years.  So, let's cram all of those into the first week.  Baptism by fire for sure.  Love, love, love my new job.  It is so far and away different from anything I'm used to, and the challenges are already really rewarding and fun.  So far I truly feel that we've made the right decision to pursue this new career.

House hunting is going extremely well.  We have been through somewhere around 20 homes in the past few weeks, but it's really nice to have lots of options.  Right now we've narrowed it down to about 2 possibilities.  Tomorrow I'm off to explore the MN side of the river in La Crescent.  I hope and pray that our home in Austin finds new owners very soon.  My head has already moved to La Crosse, but my dear family is still stuck back in Austin keeping the home-front alive.  We can't wait to have all of us in one spot.  Right now we're doing a sort of modified commuting schedule.  I am at home in Austin on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday nights.  The other nights are spent at an apartment so graciously provided by my new employer.  Even so...I miss Leslie and the kids dearly on those nights I'm in La Crosse.

More to come...

Day 1

I'm by no means much of a blogger, but I figured this might be a better means of communicating all of the upcoming changes in our lives.  Day one at my new job was fairly uneventful, filled with orientation, enrolling in benefits, and learning about the history of Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.  One weird thing was that I never even got to the radiology department today.  However, tomorrow morning I report directly to the department and will hopefully get a better understanding of what my new role entails.  During my off hours this week I will be hopefully looking at a few more houses as we work on the transition from living in Austin to the La Crosse area.

More to come...
